There are many department and program parties throughout the year, and residents are at the center of many of them. Our program is a family, and residents’ partners, children and even parents come to feel that they are a part of residency training.
Welcome PGY-1 Pizza Party
We fete our new PGY-1s when they begin training with a bash at Gino’s East – which may have been the birthplace of Chicago’s deep dish pizza.
Annual Program Barbeque Dinner
Every August, Dr. Anzia hosts a program-wide barbeque dinner at her home in a nearby suburb. Residents bring their significant others, children, and even dogs to this event, as they are also part of the “program family”. PGY-1 residents are especially honored at this event!
This is a department-wide event held in the beautiful atrium of Prentice Women’s Hospital. Everyone enjoys cocktails and appetizers as Dr. Csernansky, our chair, delivers a department update.
Our annual celebration of scholarly work and education for the entire department features a buffet lunch, poster session, and scholarly awards.
Residents enjoy a full day of fun and team-building. This day is protected from clinical duties and planned by the chief residents. Some of the activities in the past few years include a scavenger hunt, Whirlyball (combination of lacrosse, basketball and bumper cars), art therapy, and karaoke.
This is the big event! Parents, partners, and children join the graduates, their fellow residents, and faculty members at a beautiful evening ceremony in the atrium of Prentice Women’s Hospital, with cocktails and appetizers. Graduates and their families also enjoy a special dinner with the program directors and coordinator at a restaurant of their choosing.
