Events

There are many Department and Program parties throughout the year, and residents are at the center of many of them.  Our Program is a family, and residents’ partners, children and even parents come to feel that they are a part of residency training.

Welcome PGY1 Pizza Party

We fete our new PGY1s when they begin training with a bash at Gino’s East – which may have been the birthplace of Chicago’s deep dish pizza.

Annual Program Barbeque Dinner

Every August, Dr. Anzia hosts a program-wide barbeque dinner at her home in a nearby suburb. Residents bring their significant others, children, and even dogs to this event, as they are also part of the “program family”.  PGY1 residents are especially honored at this event!

Holiday Party

This is a Department-wide event held in the beautiful atrium of Prentice Women’s Hospital. Everyone enjoys cocktails and appetizers as Dr. Csernansky, our Chair, delivers a department update.

Scholars’Day

Our annual celebration of scholarly work and education for the entire Department, featuring a buffet lunch, Poster Session, and awards.

Resident Retreat

Residents enjoy a full day of fun and team-building.

Department Graduation

This is the big event!  Parents, partners, and children join the graduates, their fellow residents, and faculty members at a beautiful evening ceremony in the atrium of Prentice Women’s Hospital, with cocktails and appetizers.   Graduates and their families also enjoy a special dinner with the Program Directors and Coordinator at a restaurant of their choosing.
