Research Focus:
My research interests span clinical, basic, and translational topics.  In the clinical area, I focus on developing novel treatments for schizophrenia, particularly treatment resistant schizophrenia, optimizing the efficacy and minimizing the side effects of approved antipsychotic drugs, investigating the cognitive deficit of schizophrenia and cognitive effects of psychotropic drugs, development of treatment guidelines for schizophrenia, pharmacogenomic research to identify biomarkers for treatment choice, suicide research. My basic research emphasizes clarifying the mechanism of action of antipsychotic drugs, animal models of cognitive impairment in schizophrenia, and illuminating the roles of glutamate, GABA, dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine and acetylcholine in psychosis and cognition models

Clinical Interests:
My clinical focus is on the evaluation and treatment of patients with psychotic spectrum disorders. My clinical practice specializes in  treatment resistant schizophrenia and ameliorating cognitive dysfunction.
