Research Focus:
My research focuses on the evaluation of neurocognition in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders, with an aim to bridge the basic cognitive and clinical neurosciences in this research. My current work centers on use of neurocognitive and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) paradigms to evaluate the neural system abnormalities underlying cognitive processes such as attention and working memory among patients early in the course of a psychotic illness (schizophrenia or psychotic affective disorder), and how these abnormalities are impacted by treatment. Additionally, I am interested in using these same approaches to evaluate cognitive and functional neural system abnormalities among those at genetic or clinical risk for developing psychosis.

Clinical Interests:
In my clinical practice, I conduct clinical neuropsychological assessments of older adolescent or adult patients in whom impairments of cognitive or neuropsychiatric functioning are evident or suspected. I evaluate patients from a broad range of clinical populations including those with major psychiatric disorders, disorders of attention (e.g., ADHD) and learning, seizure disorders, cerebrovascular disorders, metabolic disorders (e.g., liver disease), autoimmune disorders (e.g., Lupus, HIV infection) and those with acquired conditions such as traumatic brain injury.
