Welcome Dr. Hans Breiter
I am pleased to announce that Hans Breiter, BSM ’85, Weinberg ’86, MD ’88, PhD, a renowned expert in cognitive neuroscience, has joined the medical school as a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He will also hold the position of scientific director at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Warren Wright Adolescent Center. Dr. Breiter’s research program will be focused on the development of critical cognitive domains, such as self-regulation, during adolescence.
Dr. Breiter served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School from 1993 to the 2011, achieving the rank of associate professor. During his post-graduate training and early faculty career at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Breiter gained advanced research training by completing a National Institutes of Health-sponsored postdoctoral fellowship in nuclear magnetic resonance research, a Ethel Dupont-Warren Research Fellowship in experimental psychology, and a DANA Foundation Fellowship in Neurobiology.
We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Breiter at Northwestern because of the breadth and quality of his research accomplishments, his ability to foster collaborations, and his strong teaching and mentoring skills. Please join me in welcoming him to the Feinberg community.
