Giving

Become an advocate of mental health research.

While every source of funding is important, private philanthropic support is especially vital to our department's research activities. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, friends and patients over the years, we have been able to attract new educators and scientists and to initiate important research projects that have the potential to contribute scientific breakthroughs.

Dr. William Land sight seeing in India

Northwestern set the foundation for my own career in psychiatry, and now I want to support the next generation of experts in the field. I have seen the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences grow from a quite small department in the 80s into what it is today, and Iā€™m excited to help build its future.

William Land, ā€™87 MD

There is so much to learn about the brain, its relationship to psychiatry, and the ability to diagnose mental illness. There is also a great need for well-trained residents in the field of psychiatry. I have personally had the good fortune of an exemplary physiatrist and hope that our gift will make this possible for many others.

Dr. Steven Stahl Headshot

As a Northwestern alum, I am proud to endow a professorship and an accompanying research fund to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. As a psychiatrist, I am encouraged by Northwestern's psychiatry leadership, talented faculty, and students who are poised to leverage this gift to make significant contributions to influence, advance, and destigmatize mental illness.

Stephen M. Stahl, ā€™75 MD
